Kashmir braces up for two-day light wet spell from tomorrow | KNO

Night temperature improves further, no major rainfall, snowfall expected till December 08

Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNO): With the improvement in foggy weather conditions as well as in minimum temperatures across the Valley, the weatherman here has predicted two-day wet spell in Kashmir, saying that the light snow and rainfall is expected for the next two days. Deputy Director, Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that light rains and snowfall is expected at fairly widespread places from tomorrow. “Although there is no forecast of any major rains or snowfall, the light rains as well as snow is expected on November 29-30,” he said, adding that the wet spell is expected under the influence of a weak Western Disturbance. “The weather is expected to remain mainly dry from December 01-Decmeber 08,” he said, adding that as per the forecast, there would be an improvement in the foggy weather conditions. Nonetheless, the local Meteorological department here has also issued an advisory, saying that temporary disruption of surface transportation over hilly areas and important passes like Zojila, Sinthan Pass, Mughal road and others is also expected during November 29th & 30th. Meanwhile, the occasional sunshine was witnessed today while the minimum temperatures across the Valley also recorded an improvement. Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.2 degree Celsius while the mercury in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir, settled at 3.9 degree Celsius. In Qazigund, the mercury settled at 3.8 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature in Pahalgam settled at 1.2 degree Celsius. In Kupwara and Kokernag, the mercury settled at 3.0 degree Celsius and 2.8 degree Celsius respectively—(KNO)
